Major & Minor Changes that NAAC made in 2021:-

Predominantly NAAC Team was busy in lot of webinars during the pandemic on revised accreditation framework and in seriatim this each & every month plenty of webinars were conducted from 17 April 2020 to 31st December 2020 to make colleges and universities familiar about NAAC accreditation framework mainly on Assessment Accreditation process for Universities, Assessment Accreditation process for Autonomous Colleges, Assessment Accreditation process for Affiliated/Constituent Colleges, Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR), NAAC Assessment and Accreditation Process for Health Science Colleges and covering some other important aspects like “Physical and Emotional Development of the Youth for a Better Society : Extension and Outreach Activity” were conducted. In total NAAC conducted 116 webinars on A&A process.

1 January 2021 onwards NAAC's main focus is to deploy it's Peer Team members for all the pending colleges across country who have prequalified with 25% i.e. 163 marks out of 650 in DVV process. To take nomination from Peer Team Members for Visits and having all the pending visits be finished in stipulated time is going to be the one of the biggest challenge for NAAC.

Due all of the busyness (current and previous) of having a great deal to do NAAC came up with a few minor changes for the year 2021 and NAAC sustained all the changes made as Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) of 2020. The Major Changes of 2020 that NAAC Sustained in 2021 :-

Below are the 10 Major Changes in NAAC’s New Format for Higher Education Institutions (2020)

General:–

Weightage of Student Satisfaction Survey (SSS ) is increased to 60 from 50 Marks.
Weightage of Optional Metrics is reduced to 30 from 50 Marks.
Peer Team Visit Pre-qualifier 25% in Quantitative Metrics (QnM) i.e. DVV instead of 30%. (Instead of195 Marks, now the institute will need 163 Marks.)
File upload size increased to 5MB from 3MB.
Total number of Key Indicators (KIs) is reduced to UG-31& PG-32 from 34.
Total number of Qualitative Metrics (Ql) is reduced to UG-35 & PG-36 from 41 .
Total number of Quantitative Metrics (Qn) is reduced to UG-58 & PG-60 from 80.
Separate Manual is prepared for Institutes running UG and PG programs.
An Appeals Committee constituted for the purpose will consider the appeal and make recommendations to the Executive Committee (EC). The decision of the EC shall be binding on the institution. Generally the recommendations may beRe-DVV, Re-Visit, No Change, etc.
- No Changes in Re-DVV (2020 – 21 ):-The clarification process and time lines for Re-DVV is the same as DVV process.
- No Changes in Re-Visit (2020 -21 ):-The process of Re-Visit is the same except that the logistic expenses will be borne by the NAAC.
1. Institutions, which would like to make an improvement in the accredited status/Grade, may volunteer for re-assessment, after completing at least one year, but not after the completion of three years.
- The option can be exercised only once in a cycle.
- The current procedures, methodology, fee structure and other process including the manual for the Assessment and Accreditation applicable for all institutions applying for re-assessment will be same.

NAAC Accreditation

The Minor Changes that NAAC made for 2021:-

At the end of 2020 NAAC announced some changes in formats but that is specific to Excel Formats only. These latest Xls. can be downloaded from here with the latest Manual's & SOP's of the Autonomous Colleges, Affiliated Colleges & Universities.

NAAC made these changes in Xls. formats to bring in more clarity in the existing formats where NAAC is looking for higher education institutions to fill in the relevant data that exactly NAAC is looking at.
